Country at the US Open

So, it's here. The unofficial last weekend of the summer. While the rest of the city commences the mass exodus out of town, might you still be trying to rustle up some plans? Fear not. In addition to being a huge beach weekend, it is the first weekend of the US Open. If getting on the subway and sneaking in mushed up sandwiches isn't your idea of fun, we've found a great alternative.

AMEX is hosting a broadcast of the US Open Live in Madison Square Park and Geoffrey Zakarian will be on hand with goodies from his restaurant Country. He's preparing sandwiches ($6), salads ($6), snacks like lemon parsley popcorn ($3) and ice cream sandwiches ($3). To drink there will be muddled basil lemonade ($3) and even a choice of wines ($7).  And there is even a chance for you to do a good deed. $1 donations  for Fiji water will go to benefit the Madison Square Park Conservancy. And anyone who has ever waited on line at Shake Shack knows that is a good cause.
