RESTAURANTS: Beard Foundation Has a Sweet Spot
Pichet Ong is having a good week. Just days after his long awaited dessert shop Batch opened (located next door to his savory/sweet resto P*ong at 150 W. 10th Street), the man got the call. Nominated for the 2008 Outstanding Pastry Chef Award, this makes Pichet the first person of Asian descent to ever receive the honor. Fellow Asian Beard alum include David Chang, Martin Yan and Nobu Matsuhisa, so Ong is no doubt in good company. Yes, it is a good week indeed. Maybe it's time to play the lotto, Pichet?
