EVENTS: Curacao tasting

LeNell's, the wonderfully quirky liquor store way down in the wilds of Red Hook, often hosts tastings of obscure and unusual spirits. This weekend, the blue liquid known as Curacao is on the docket, with the opportunity to sip both colored and clear versions. Made from the peels of a citrus fruit that's grown on the Caribbean island of Curacao, the triple sec–like liquor is often added to sickly-sweet cocktails -- Bloody Smurf anyone? LeNell is ready to educate through inebriation, so head down this weekend to LeNell's shop on Van Brunt for the chance to try some of the good stuff. Tastings take place all day Saturday, August 23, from noon to midnight, and on Sunday, August 24, from noon to 9 pm. LeNell's is at 416 Van Brunt St. Brooklyn; 718-360-0838
